Here are a couple more pages from my childrens book of The Little Mermaid. I told myself I was going to paint more of these pages over winter break but I've been focusing more on filling up my new sketchbook. I'm going to scan some pages of it tonight for my new post. They're a bit more retro and fashion illustration-ey

The little mermaid character concept
So in my childrens book illustration class, I've decided to illustration my all time favorite story ever. THE LITTLE MERMAID! I've always wanted to be a mermaid, so I figure I wouldn't get bored of illustrating them for an entire semester. I tried to stay away from the Disney look so they can't sue me.
It's been really fun. We are supposed to make three finish illustrations and make a "dummy book". I've finished one of my three, I'll post that tomorow or something.

figure painting
This was a two day pose. The poor woman looked like she wanted to fall over the whole time.
I started this painting yesterday, so I've spent about an hour or so on it but it's going to to be a two day pose.
This is an idea I have for our Somalian pirate piece. My final piece will be much darker. It would be best to change the pirate ship to an actual tanker and make his features darker..
unfinished portrait of the artist Elyse.
N.C. Wyeth mastercopy.
