School is starting this monday! I am going to scanning in some of my favorite summer sketches this upcoming week.
And lately I have been loving the illustrations in the Lemony Snicket books.

Here's an excerpt about the illustrator, Bret Helquist:

"Brett Helquist says that he was born in Ganado, Arizona, grew up in Orem, Utah, and now lives in New York City. He purportedly earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Brigham Young University and has been illustrating ever since."



By the way, how awesome are the ending credits from the Lemony Snicket movie? The credits were directed by Jamie Caliri and designed/animated by Axiom.

I just finished this big ole sketchbook in about 3 months, front to back. I have never finished one of my moleskins or small sketchbooks...I like to draw big. Here's some recent work from the now old sketchbook, just started my new one last night.

Sci-fi

So Thiel assigned us to do "anything sci-fi" and I instantly envisioned an old EC Comic space cover. Or maybe I just want to go explore space? Here is my process work for it so far, I'm torn between finishing it traditional or digitally, can't decide...
