I saw this video over on Imaginism Studios Blog, and thought I would share! Lips can be pretty hard and I would love to incorporate this method into some of my own work.

yellow dress gal

I started drawing this tonight. Tomorow is my last day of this semester and I should've been working on finishing my comic but you know when you just want to doodle, you just gotta doodle. I got back all my prints from printmaking today, so I'll scan those tomorow and start uploading them!

(edit) By the way, the inspiration for my drawing is one of the gorgeous photos from The Cherry Blossom Girl

I was supposed to be working on my figure painting in my class but I kept getting bored and doodling a little bit on the side and by the end of class my little doodle turned into this. By the way, what I was SUPPOSED to be working on, turned out looking dreadful!

Lately the hardest part about being in school at the moment isn't just doing my liberal arts classes homework (I hate writing "essays" so much!) But finding time to do my thing. I'll work on homework all day long, but about an hour before I go to bed at night, I'll just draw whatever I want. Here's a little preview of what I started tonight. I did a screen shot so I could include my reference photo. One more week of school left! I want to do lots of art this summer!

After being so good all day long and doing my homework (though I didn't complete my homework goal) I rewarded myself by allowing myself to draw for a few minutes before I went to sleep. Oh how lucky I am.

This is me and my silly ole boyfriend. We are both kinda nerdy and we like to play pokemon on our Nintendo DS's side by side. Hence the pokeball on his shirt.

School is out in a week and a half! Freedom to draw whatever I want, when I want!

Ever since I got my first wacom tablet, I've been trying to get used to drawing on it and it's been pretty difficult! I wanted to give up and just do what I am used to (use flat colors..) but I remember this one artist saying one only makes a great caricature after 650 attempts. Well it's not exactly a caricature and I haven't tried 650 times yet but this is about my 15th attempt at noodling around on a portrait and it gives me hope! I'm not looking at it like, "This is my master piece," but compared to the rest...I feel like I will keep noodling around and trying to understand more.

Wish me luck!

In my spare time at Ringling, I've started working on this last week. But it looks like awhile until I finish it! My schedule is way hectic and during the moments I'm not doing homework I find my self laying on my bed staring at the ceiling, just trying to decompress. Not that I'm complaining...I'm very blessed to be receiving my education!

Heres a little speed painting i did today on my new wacom tablet. Just trying to get a feel for it. I tend to gravitate towards flat shapes instead of a lot of rendering, so itll be fun to experiment with it on the tablet. I cant wait!
